We offer two programs to individuals over the age of eighteen:
Meet Up - Adult Music Therapy Program

Meet Up combines music therapy and expressive art experiences for adults with disabilities. The curriculum is research-based and is designed to meet the needs of adults with a broad range of abilities and challenges. All that is required is a passion for music, art, and a willingness to explore.
Meet Up runs July 5 - 9 2010 from 9:00 - 12:00pm.Themes such as Roots and Heritage, Transitions, Friendship, and Peace are introduced in a positive, secure atmosphere. Highly qualified facilitators provide direction for each activity and as skills are mastered, campers gain confidence in their creative abilities and take on leadership roles themselves.
The small group size encourages social interaction and campers leave with a stronger sense of identity, new friends and happy memories to share with their families at home.
Meet Up is designed to facilitate:
- Increased Self Expression
Music and art activities provide participants with opportunities to develop, explore, and share their identities. - Increased Self Esteem
Activities are designed to create an environment of security and familiarity that encourages participants to attempt new tasks and have successful experiences. There is always an emphasis on ability and strengths to promote a positive development of self. - Increased Social/Peer Awareness and Interaction
The program allows for meaningful participation and expression at non-verbal and verbal levels to ensure all participants are 'heard' and validated. The small group size allows for strong bonding opportunities where the participants can eventually learn from and lead each other through the activities.
Private Individual or Small Group Sessions
A skilled therapist can provide progressive music therapy to individual clients in small group sessions either in a private home or at Academie St. Cecile, Academy of Music. For private in-home sessions, the therapist conducts 3 initial sessions, completes a formal assessment and then discusses with the family various next steps. Contact us for details.
